I'm probably one of the few graduates who actually achieved his high-school goal. I had stated in our yearbook that I wanted to become a research chemist, and I did. I received a Ph.D. from Caltech and worked as a research chemist for Abbott Laboratories for 36 years. I retired in 2001 but remain active on the board of the Chicago Section of the American Chemical Society. I also create web pages for organizations and individuals. I created the web pages for our 50th reunion event.
I was married for seventeen years and have an adult son and daughter from that marriage, as well as two lovely young granddaughters who live in St. Louis. Seven years ago I remarried, to Margaret Stowell Levenberg, who is also a chemist. The two of us scuba dive and in the winter teach skiing at a local ski hill. Our travels are usually to dive sites in the Caribbean, relatives in Florida or St. Louis, or ski mountains in Colorado and points west. Life is good! |
