50 Years!   Where did it go?   After graduation from Senn, I attended the University of Illinois downstate.   Little did I know then that Champaign would become my home since 1962.   I transferred to Northwestern University in 1956 and received my bachelors degree in elementary education in 1958.   I also met my late husband, Stuart Nagel, at Northwestern.   We maaried in 1957 while we were both at Northwestern.   I taught school in Skokie until we began a family.   Stuart had teaching positions at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Arizona before he began his long teaching and research career in the Political Science Department at the University of Illinois in 1962.   We spent sabbatical years in California, Hawaii, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C., but Champaign has been home for the past 43 years.   I worked with Stuart and he wrote or edited approximately 100 books and over 700 scholarly journal articles or book chapters in his career.   I was also the administrator of a scholarly organization, the Policy Studies Organization, that published over 100 books and hundreds of journal issues since 1972.   Stuart passed away in 2001, and I retired at that time.

My life now revolves around my family, traveling, and having fun.   I have two children.   Brenda, age 45, has a graduate degree in counseling psychology and lives in Deerfield, New Hampshire with her four year old daughter and husband.
My son, Robert. age 42, has a law practice in Madison, Wisconsin together with his wife.   They have two daughters, ages 9 and 5.   I love being Grandma Joyce to my three granddaughters.

I am active in the Champaign community and currently do volunteer work for the Champaign Public Library and the American Cancer Society.   I am also active in the Champaign Jewish community.   My international travels have taken me to Taiwan. London, France, Portugal, and Scotland.   I went on my first cruise in January, 2005, to Mexico and it certainly won't be my last cruise.   I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.   Another interest I have is attending diverse events at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University.
I find the easy availability of so many things a great advantage to living in Champaign.
