I have had only one wife, but, she is a great one!! We have 5 children and 12 grandchildren. If we had known that the grandchildren would be so much fun, we would have skipped the children and gone directly to the grandchildren.
I spent 37 years in the insurance business. 30 years as an agent for State Farm in Winnetka. We had a home in Glencoe for 32 years. As I approached age 60, I started to take life seriously and decided to trade time for money. I had a good idea of the assets but no clue as to the time. The majority of our grandchildren lived in San Antonio so we built a home there and sold the place in Glencoe. Aside from the poisonous critters and thorny plants, it is beautiful. No more ice and snow. Cactus beds for landscape and no grass to mow. Fishing and hunting goes on all year long. San Antonio Symphony is not the CSO but they get most of the notes in. Besides my outdoor hobbies, I also fill in at the occasional Habitat for Humanity build and have a Meals on Wheels route. Designing and contracting your own home lets you leave space for a full woodworking shop. It keeps me out of the pool halls and saloons. We have been retired for about 8 years and it is the best move we ever made. "There's no business like no business"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
