As a typical girl of the 50's, I followed my high school sweetheart, Mert Silbar (class of '52) to the U of IL. We married 3 years later and have 3 sons, now ages 45, 41 and 37, and 6 terrific grandchildren.
I've lived in Chicago my whole life. Have worked mostly partime the past 30 years in different jobs - including travel agent, restaurant owner, for Oakton Community College, and for various medical practices. Have enjoyed volunteering, most recently for Meals on Wheels. Enjoy travel, both domestic and abroad, Florida in the winter, golf, tennis, reading, theater and continuing education classes at Oakton and Northwestern. I feel very blessed and very lucky - it's been a great life, so far. |
