Peripatetic wanderings after Senn (Harvard College and Med. School; medical internship, residency in Boston; NIH fellow 3 years; Stanford research fellow 3 years; Boston for infectious disease fellowship), but then settled down in Hyde Park on U. of Chgo. faculty 1972-86. Lured to Wayne State Univ. Sch. of Med. (Detroit) in 1986; here ever since. Three years ago, shifted from lab research (antibiotic resistance) to Assoc. Dean for Faculty Affairs, trying to help faculty experience the gratification I?ve had in academic medicine. Still doing clinical consultations and teaching med students, residents, and fellows, and in educational outreach to international microbiology community. Love travel to everywhere, which I have done untiringly; hard to pick favorites, but Asia and E. Europe are special. Married 1963; divorced 1990. Remarried 1991 to Swedish physician I met in travels. My 3 children all born in different time zones; 2 now in Chicago, and one recently moved from St. Louis to Anchorage (new opportunity for travel). 2 stepchildren [Detroit area (with 4 grandchildren) and Stockholm (with 1 grandchild)]. Working hard, but having fun.
