Graduated from Univ. of Ill. in 1959 and immediately
started social work career with the state. After 32 yrs., I opted out with the early retirement plan. Married, divorced and after 28 yrs. in the same house in Deerfield and having raised my daughter, I decided 3 yrs. ago to return to the city----a hi-rise condo in downtown. Didn't think I would adjust but after experiencing just a fraction of the plethora of city resources, entertainment, museums, cultural events and new improvements such as Millennium Pk., I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be. I still volunteer(13 yrs.) at Lincoln Park Zoo and stay physically active in part by often babysitting m 3 yr. old rambunctious grandson. Between visiting relatives in other states, taking care of the mind and body that seems to give in to advancing age, I keep busy with family and friends. If this is what is referred to as the 'goldenyears'--this is nirvana. |
