I've lived in Israel since 1961, in Jerusalem since 1984. In Sept. 1955, I went to Israel on a one year work-study program, the Habonim Workshop. Returning to Chicago, I began University of Illinois at Navy Pier, and completed my B.Ed. studies at National College of Education, graduating in Jan. 1960.
I taught elementary school,in July 1961, decided to visit Israel again, and had an opportunity to live on a kibbutz while teaching English in a regional school. Later my (Israeli)husband and I left the kibbutz,I taught at the American International School near Tel Aviv. After many years of teaching I made a career change, began working at Tel Aviv University, Faculty of Social Sciences, administrative secretary, editing English books and manuscripts written by various professors. When my family and I moved to Jerusalem I continued this position at The Hebrew University, Faculties of Social Sciences and Law. I enjoyed the University intellectual atmosphere immensely. I am now divorced, retired, with three married sons, and seven grandchildren. |
