We have been married for 40 years. Our three adult children and four grandchildren are still a major focus of our lives. I attended the University of Chicago, receiving Ph.D. in Neuroscience and M.D. degrees, training in Neurology and Child Neurology. I was on the full-time faculty at Chicago, California (Davis), Virginia (Charlottesville), and for the past fifteen years, at Stony Brook University (New York). About half my time was clinical teaching and practice, and half basic science research. The latter included early studies of environmental control of daily body rhythms, development of brain and effects of early life brain injury, brain cell transplants and related molecular processes.
One year ago I retired from the University. I have enjoyed the leisure, freedom to travel, a good deal of reading for fun, and informal classes for retired people offered at the University. I continue long-term hobbies, especially photography and tennis. My wife has all along been a free-lance artist (porcelain and silk), and continues this work.
